We Need Your Help!

admin | October 22, 2010

I’m sure you’ll agree that Sempai Sean is doing a great job with the Dojo. It looks great in there, the classes are great and the equipment and mats are kept in excellent condition.

You will continue to notice some ongoing changes, with the Dojo improving all the time. It’s so important to maintain a clean and safe environment for the kids, their parents, as well as the adults training at the club. It’s also important to have a wide range of equipment available for all to use. As the club continues to grow, for obvious reasons we need to avoid over-populating the classes.

There are possibilities to hold more classes, more opportunity for expanding and even more possibility of a second location. We know that our system of Martial arts is excellent for both children and adults and are making improvements to that all the time too. Not only is it all very time consuming, I know from my personal experience it’s also very expensive so -

How Can You Help?

We don’t sell cookies, we don’t sell chocolates, do bottle drives, Bingos or Casinos but we still need to raise funds. So how about something much simpler, something you are already doing! Simply Coffee or Tea but this is a healthier version, so read on and find out more…

Do you drink coffee or know anyone who does? Exactly! We are organizing a Fundraiser for the club. Anyone who drinks Coffee, Tea or Hot Chocolate can help. I’m sure that applies to most people. You are also very welcome to Bring Along GUESTS in fact I fully encourage you to do that. There will be many beverages available – Black Coffee, Latte, Mocha, Hot Chocolate, Rooibos Tea, Green Tea and Gourmet Chai Tea. There are also a range of very effective Supplements available.

Most people who attend Martial Arts and Fitness Classes are conscious of their health. So if you knew that these beverages were very much aligned with helping you be in better health, I’m sure you’d be interested in that wouldn’t you?

This is a fantastic opportunity to raise some funds for the club by simply buying something that you are already going to buy, combined, we can contribute to making a big difference to the club. Our Combined Efforts here will make the task so much easier, rather than leaving it to the time and expense of a few individuals.

We are having a couple of Coffee Tasting sessions at the Dojo. Please come along, test a couple of the beverages out and if you like them, buy a box or two. It will really help us out.

Come to the Dojo in Queensland.

Tuesday 26th October at 9pm (Don’t worry, this coffee won’t keep you awake :o)

Saturday 30th October at 11:00am and 4pm

I can testify to the fact the Beverages are not only Delicious but have many Health Benefits too. Most people instantly find that they have More Energy during the day and Sleep Better at night. Many also find that they Lose Weight too. Personally I lost 16 pounds in 6 weeks and feel great. I was a Tim Horton’s and Starbucks Fanatic but I simply changed my brand of coffee and can safely say, I won’t be changing back. For those who do not drink coffee, you can benefit from any of the of Supplements that are available.

I am truly excited to offer my own testimonial to these products as they have made such a big positive difference to my health and well-being.

I look forward to see you at the Tasters, your Support is most appreciated. There will be an information session to explain how and why you can benefit from these products and obviously a tasting session, where you have the opportunity to sample any of these beverages.

If anyone wants to hold fundraisers for other organizations, we can organize similar Fund Raising Events for you too. Just let me know and I would be more than happy to help you get that organised for you. In fact, this information will be made available during the Tasting sessions. The fund raising can be ongoing too as many of people, after realising the benefits of this coffee and tea will continue drinking it.

It’s a Win - Win Situation. You help us and the Products help you! There is also a 100% money back guarantee on the products :o)

We look forward to your support.

Best Regards

Sensei Malcolm

PS - Come to the Dojo in Queensland for the Tasting Session.

Adult Senior Belt Classes

admin | July 18, 2009

Many Students have already expressed and Interest in classes specifically for the higher Belts. It is something we really need to incorporate. I don’t want anyone to stop working on the Lower Curriculum Techniques as these are what really create the Foundation for everything else we do. We must establish and maintain a Strong Foundation on which to build.

I mentioned recently that we will be starting these classes through the Summer Semester.
We will experiment to see which day is going to work best for our students and then integrate the class Full-Time into the Fall Semester.
Thanks to all who have already given me some feedback regarding these classes.
We still need your feedback to make this work effectively for everyone

Kids Martial Arts in Calgary

admin | July 18, 2009

Juniors

Junior Classes are still available on Mondays and Wednesdays or Fridays and Sundays. It’s a much smaller group who will greatly benefit from attending this Summer Semester. This is a great opportunity to add some of the fun sessions that kids will highly enjoy and reap the benefits from -

One-on-one padwork, An Introduction to sparring, Jousting, Fun Circuit Training and enjoying many Martial Arts based games to really keep the enthusiasm high. All on top of taking their curriculum training another step in the right direction.

Many adult students have commented on how well the kids are progressing too, which is always a great compliment to the Junior Students.

Junior Leaders
Junior Leaders will start back fully in September. This is an important addition to the Junior Program which will prove to make a big difference to all those involved.
I will also be providing information for the other 3 additional training sessions of the Semester before the Semester even begins so that you can plan to be there.
It’s all very exciting, the kids are going to love it and the parents very impressed by the kids renewed enthusiasm and development.
The Kids will be moving through several stages :
  • Juniors This is the basic Junior Program
  • Junior Leaders When the Juniors are ready to show focus and Commitment
  • Black Belt Club Juniors to follow the adult Curriculum in a Junior environment
  • Masters Club Juniors who reach reach Black Belt Level

These levels of training are a very necessary addition to the Junior Program. It is essential to keep the Juniors motivated and inspired and this staged development is one of the best methods to ensure that happens.

We will continue to help students to make continual progress through the stripe system. Those small increments add up to massive improvements over time.

We continue to add additional assistant Instructors to the team. I’m sure that you will agree that we have to set and keep the standards high as I know students will reach these levels. If we set the standard low, they will also reach those levels.

Giving Credit Where it’s Due

admin | April 14, 2009

We are very fortunate to have many excellent Assistant Instructors and Students at Jiu Jitsu Calgary who have stepped up and offered their services to help fellow students.

There are several I could mention right now but one member who I would like to give a “shout out” to this month and be recognised for his efforts is Sean Grimes. I’m sure you will have met him by now.

Sean attends all 4 adult Jiu Jitsu Classes every week, when we increase to 5 regular classes in the very near future, I’ve no doubt he will be there. He also attends the additional training clinics that I organize each month.

Sean has also committed himself to assisting in the kid’s classes – both Little Samurai and Junior classes.

I hold regular Free Self Defense Courses and there are no prizes for guessing who helps out on those.

This amount of training and commitment is very commendable to say the least, it has allowed Sean to progress comfortably in our system of Jiu Jitsu to become very competent in carrying out techniques and sharing the form with fellow students.

When someone shows this level of commitment and maintains it, you know they are going to have great success.

Sean has introduced friends to Jiu Jitsu Calgary too, the best compliment I could hope for.

We realize that not everyone is in a position to offer this amount of assistance but every bit does really help and is very much appreciated. You can join me in praising Sean by using the comments section below.

Excellent Job Sean Grimes, keep up the great work.

Sparring Session - April

admin | March 30, 2009

Our Next Clinic will cover Sparring, it is an introductory session that is suitable for all of our adult students members. Certainly nothing for anyone to worry about.

Date - Saturday 4th April, 2009 from 10am - 12:30 pm

This will be a very well controlled session, we’ll go through some sparring drills. There will also be some time allocated to Bag Work and Pad Work.

Students who attended the last session has a thoroughly enjoyable time and reaped the benefits. Great for improving your fitness too.

There is no cost for this additional training, however, there will be some protective gear required. We do have some sparring gear available.

It is advised that students do start to collect their own sets together, the equipment we have as the moment is new but as you see the gallons of sweat that can come into contact with such items may be the incentive you need to start acquiring Gloves, Head Guard, Foot Protectors, Groin Protector, Mouth Guard, Hand Wraps etc.

For this upcoming session, I would advise you acquire a mouthguard and handwraps as minimum.

If you would like to attend, please fill-in the form below.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Sensei Malcolm

Technical Training - March

admin | March 7, 2009

This Week I am organising a Technical Training Session for Coloured Belts. This upcoming session will specifically cover Yellow Belt Curriculum and then followed by a session for more senior belts to go through techniques related to more Upper Belt Curriculum

I will be covering each and every technique in the Yellow Belt Curriculum which will take about 1.5 hours. There is no cost for this extra training, just adding even more value to your Membership and to help prepare students for Gradings which will be held at the end of March.

You will undoubtedly find this session to be very beneficial.

I can only make these sessions available as long as there is enough interest to justify the additional time and effort. Sessions for other Belt levels will be held over the coming weeks to, these will be available to adult students who are Grading for that level or are already above that level.

Remember that a firm knowledge and understanding of the lower belt levels will help to create a solid foundation for your Jiu Jitsu.

Date - Saturday 14 March

Time - 10am - 11:30am - Yellow

Time - 11:45am - 1:45pm - Others

RSVP by adding a comment below.
